One of the biggest problems that I encountered when I initial got into Hold’em was figuring out what cards to play in what Location. Usually I would have burned on a hand that I thought was a very good starting hand. Come to locate out they were very good hands, just not in the position I was betting them from. Here is a pretty basic list of what type of hands to wager on and what position it’s suitable to wager on them in. Keep in mind this chart does not factor in raises or suits.

Play From Any Location

AA KK QQ JJ Ten, Ten 99 Eight, Eight Ace, King AQ Ace, Jack AT King, Queen King, Jack

Bet on Mid to Late Placement

66 55 King, Ten QJ QT Jack Ten

Play in Late Placement Only

Ace, Nine A8 A7 King, Nine King, Eight Queen, Nine Jack, Nine J8 Ten, Nine Ten, Eight 98 97

If you’re just starting to play poker, playing these hands at the recommended positions will help you often be in a safe location prior to the flop. As your game progresses, you’ll be able to add more hands to this list and know how to wager on them in particular situations. Should you be just beginning to wager on cards, I would recommend playing for nickels and dimes at home or for absolutely free at an internet poker site. Poker websites are nice because you have to see several more hands per hour than you do at household. A few goods sites to play for free are UltimateBet and PartyPoker.com.
