Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
