Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve final table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best enthusiasts in the world. While participating in online poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He often plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amount. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world might be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in high stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
