Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the final poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers in the world. While betting on online poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to settle at the game with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world may be players you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
