Before you Tilt

Ah, the steam. If a poker gambler states never to have looked over the shadow of an approaching poker steam – they are either lying or they have not been betting long enough. This doesn’t indicate of course that each and every one has gone on tilt in the past, a handful of people have great control and take their losses as a loss and leave it at that. To be a brilliant poker gambler, it is extremely important to treat your successes and your losses in the same manner – with no emotion. You compete in the match the same way you did after taking a difficult loss as you would after winning a big hand. All poker pros are not enticed by tilting following a bad defeat as they are particularly accomplished and you should be to.

You have to be aware that you can’t win every hand you’re in, even if you are the strongest player. Hands which usually cause people go on tilt are hands you were the leading choice or at a minimum believed you were up until you were hit and you lost a huge chunk of your stack. Bad defeats are going to develop. Face that idea right now, I’ll say it again – if your brother enjoys cards, if your parents play cards, if your grandma plays cards – They have all had bad beats at some point. It is an unavoidable effect of playing Hold’em, or for that matter any type of poker.

Seeing as we are assumingly (almost all of us) in the game for a single reason – to win money, it certainly makes sense that we will play accordingly to maximize profits. Now let’s say you are up one hundred dollars off of a $100 deposit, and you suffer a big hit in a No Limits game and your stack is down to $120. You’ve burned $80 in a hand where you were sure to pick up $200two hundred dollars when you went all-in on the flop and enjoyed a 10 – 1 advantage. And that fish! He sucked you out on the river? – Well hold it right there. This is a quintessential choice for a fresh bettor to begin tilting. They just lost too much $$$$ on one hand that they should have won and they are angry
