Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
